Professional Soccer Team Incorporates
Sechrist HBO Chambers
Yokohama, Japan - In
October, 2007, Yokohama FC (Football
Club), one of the top-tier league (J-1)
professional soccer teams, officially
announced their selection of the
Sechrist 2800J monoplace hyperbaric
chamber to treat their athletes.
Team doctor, Dr. Shinji
Shimatani, states that injured players
requested the medical-grade HBO
(Hyperbaric Oxygen) chamber. The
purchase and installation of the chamber
was made possible by generous support
from the team’s main sponsor, LEOC group
(http://www.leoc.co.jp/).
The HBO chamber is
located in Yokohama FC’s club house (LEOC
Training Center) where the team meets to
practice. Chamber use is strictly
limited to Yokohama FC players. Dr.
Shimatani states that “HBO therapy works
exceedingly well to reduce edema from
contusions and other injuries sustained
during weekly soccer matches and
practices. We also treat our players
prior to matches for conditioning,
fatigue management, and performance
enhancement.”
Yokohama FC was founded
in Yokohama, Japan in 1999, and is a
professional soccer team that plays in
the J-league in Japan. Notable league
records include the J-2 league
championship (2006), the longest minutes
un-scored upon (770 minutes, 2006), and
the highest attendance 46,697 (Dec 2,
2007).
